Electronica 2024 - 60 years of a stage for innovation
The electronica was first held in 1964 as a trade fair for electronic components in Germany and proved to be a resounding success right from the start. Six decades later, it is regarded as the world’s leading trade fair and a stage for technological milestones.
To mark its 60th anniversary, the electronics trade fair occupied all 18 exhibition halls in Munich from November 12-15, 2024, making it the largest electronica to date. Nothing less than the future of electronics was presented – hundreds of innovations that will shape the industry.
In its anniversary year, electronica will focus on the All Electric Societythe vision of a CO2-neutral society whose energy requirements are generated entirely from renewable sources. The innovations presented in the fields of power electronics, battery technology, green tech and connected mobility will contribute to this goal. Alternative vehicle drives, energy-efficient miniature components, AI in smart production and supply chains – at electronica, it became clear how the industry can contribute to greater sustainability and respond to global challenges. And also how it can attract young talent and promote skilled workers.
Despite the subdued mood in the economy, the electronics industry once again demonstrated its innovative strength and its crucial role on our path to a sustainable future. It is now important that the economic conditions in Germany improve. Because the potential and pioneering spirit are there – as electronica proved on its 60th anniversary with a record-breaking number of technological innovations.
